Our classic shoe is made in a two-eyelet Gibson style, with a bright indigo and burnt umber sole that is certain to age beautifully.
The construction is true bench-made with “goodyear” welting when possible. Our last is a bit on the wide side for comfort, yet we’re able to give the shoes a certain sleekness that avoids the clunkiness of so many other “comfortable” shoes.
We’ve been working with Alfred Sargent for many years, and they’ve always made the finest shoes for a decent price that we’ve ever seen. They truly get better with time, and are very easy for a good local cobbler to re-sole when necessary.
Keep in mind that the sizing is English, which means you should usually subtract 1 from your US size. For example if you normally take a 9.5US then you’d probably be an 8.5 or 9.0 in the UK size. We do allow exchanges for size differences as long as the shoes are not worn.
